Probably opening the eyes simply because he would be able to understand that what he sees on a regular basis is not how most people see things, and he would be able to utilize the heat waves and densities better. It would also help him understand why not everyone thinks the firefields are amazing because... they just don't see the changes in air densities. It's one of his special snowflake skills that... probably won't have a lot of practical use until he gets the A-T skills back, but it would help him understand himself better.
